Brickcom – New kids on the block!

Taiwanese manufacturer Brickcom Communications has broken into the UK market with a starting range of three camera styles in ten models, with more expected in the near future. After an impressive demonstration of their cameras’ abilities at IFSEC 2010 Brickcom have attracted much attention in the UK.

The initial range available in the UK includes four varieties of Cube Camera, four varieties of Box Camera and two varieties of Fixed Dome Camera.

The four varieties of Cube camera offered range from £179 to £289 and comprise of two wired models (CB) and two wireless models (WCB). Both the wired and wireless models can then be broken down into two performance levels, either Standard (Ae) or Pro (Ap). The two standard models are capable of Dual Codec Compression in MPEG4 or MJPEG and can stream at a maximum of 15fps, whilst the two Pro models are capable of Triple Codec Compression in MJPEG, MPEG4 or H.264 and can stream at up to 30fps. However, all four models can deliver megapixel resolution at 1280×800. Other additional features of the Pro models include Power over Ethernet, built-in PIR sensor and white LED illuminator, local storage via micro-SD card slot and bidirectional audio.

    Panasonic seems to be the leaders in CCTV technology at the moment, have used there stuff before. The quality has been second to none, but it has a price tag that is out of most peoples budget. If a customer is willing to pay then you cant go wrong with Panasonic.

    Hi Dave, It’s hard to pick a winner, there’s some great competition; Axis are producing great value HD cameras and Sanyo offer superb performance from their 4 megapixel HD range!
