SKY 3D TV
SKY have announced significant progress with the delivery of 3D TV to the home today.
They can transmit the 3D video to the home via their current HD set top boxes.
You’ll need a 3D TV (currently about £2,000) and will still need to wear 3D glasses for the time being.
It’s another interesting milestone in technology development – there’s a good video explaining how the technology works over on the SKY website. Interesting to watch it and see how they use dual camera rigs to capture two views from a similar distance apart as your eyes.
I can’t see that it’s really got any advantages beyond HD for CCTV, but who knows, maybe in the future we’ll be able to see the thief’s hand reaching in through the smashed jeweller’s window!
